Spanish Diploma Level A1 (Breakthrough) 
DELE preparation Altea; This level certifies that the student is able to communicate using the language in a basic way in situations having to do with immediate needs or everyday situations.

Level A1: Course A1.1 & Course A1.2

 

DELE preparation Altea; This level of study is intended to help students acquire the following skills:

  • To recognize basic, commonly used words and expressions about oneself, one’s family and the immediate environment, when the language is spoken slowly and clearly.
  • To participate in a simple conversation, provided that the other person collaborates and is willing to repeat what they have said or express it in other words and more slowly, about specific needs, descriptions of people or the place where they are from.
  • To write short, simple cards, for example greeting cards.
  • To complete forms with personal information (name, nationality, address).

Course A1.1

Students will learn to:

  • Say hello and goodbye.
  • Ask for and give personal information and interact during introductions. Describe the physical characteristics of people and their personalities.
  • Make comparisons.
  • Make suggestions.
  • Talk about physical conditions and feelings.
  • Express causes. Interact in cafés, shops, markets and restaurants.

Course A1.2

Students will learn to:

  • Locate objects and give instructions about how to get somewhere.
  • Describe places: homes, neighborhoods and cities.
  • Use public transport. Ask for and tell the time and talk about schedules.
  • Talk about habits and how often they do something.
  • Talk about national and international topics.
  • Talk about tastes and preferences.
  • Express agreement and disagreement.
  • Suggest activities, extend invitations and react to them.

A2

Spanish Diploma Level A2 (Waystage)
DELE preparation Altea; Certifies that the candidate can understand commonly used, everyday phrases and expressions related to areas of experience especially relevant to them (basic information about themselves, and their families, shopping, places of interest, work, etc.).

Level A2: Course A2.1 & Course A2.2

This level of study is intended to help students acquire the following skills:

  • To understand commonly used phrases and expressions related to areas of experience that are particularly relevant to them (basic information about themselves and their family, shopping, places of interest, occupations, etc.)
  • To communicate when carrying out simple, everyday tasks that only require a simple, direct exchange of information about familiar or everyday topics.
  • To describe in simple terms their past and environment, as well as anything related to their immediate needs.

Course A2.1

Students will learn to:

  • Talk about the past: talk about past actions in relation to the present.
    • talk about habitual actions in the past.

B1

Spanish Diploma Level B1 (Threshold)
DELE preparation Altea; Certifies candidates’ capacity to understand the gist of clear texts, in standard language, if they involve well-known topics related to work, studies or leisure. It also certifies students’ ability to deal with most situations that occur while travelling in areas where Spanish is spoken; to produce simple and coherent texts about familiar topics, or topics of personal interest; and lastly to be able to describe experiences, events, wishes and hopes, as well as to be able to briefly express opinions or explain plans.

Level B1: Course B1.1 , Course B1.2Course B1.3 & Course B1.4

DELE preparation Altea; This level of study is intended to help students acquire the following skills:

  • to understand pieces of information on personal experiences, and facts and events of everyday life
  • to understand explicit opinions, telephone conversations and extract the main information from mass media excerpts, providing it does require prior knowledge of cultural aspects.
  • to maintain a conversation with simple grammar structures. To be able to give opinions using adequate communicative strategies.
  • to understand the main ideas in literary and press texts (informative, descriptive or narrative) and be able to infer some lexical and grammatical aspects not implied in the context.
  • to produce moderately long texts, using the most frequently used connectors to mark clearly relationships between ideas, subordination and coordination with the appropriate tone and contents.

Course B1.1

  • Describe familiar and unfamiliar objects: their shape, material, components, use, properties, etc

  • Talk about the future: express degrees of certainty about the future

Course B1.4

B2

Spanish Diploma Level B2 (Vantage) 
DELE preparation Altea; Certifies students’ ability to interact with native speakers with a sufficient degree of fluency and spontaneity to enable easy and natural communication between interlocutors; produce clear and detailed texts about diverse topics, as well as defend an opinion about general topics, expressing the pros and cons for each argument; and lastly, understand the gist of complex texts about both concrete and abstract topics, including technical texts, provided they are within the candidate’s area of expertise.

Level B2: Course B2.1 , Course B2.2Course B2.3 & Course B2.4

DELE preparation Altea; This level of study is intended to help students acquire the following skills:

  • to understand the main ideas of complex texts that deal with both concrete and abstract topics, even if they are technical, as long as they are within their field of specialization.
  • to relate to native speakers with enough fluency and ease so that communication takes place effortlessly on the part of both speakers.
  • to produce clear, detailed texts on different topics, as well as to defend one’s point of view on general topics, indicating the pros and cons of the different options.

Course B2.1

DELE preparation Altea; Students will learn to:

  • Talk about third persons: commenting on similarities and making comparisons.
  • Talk about hobbies, studies and work done in the past.
  • Assess times or eras in the past.

Course B2.2

  • Talk about a town or city: characteristics, resources, traditions, legends, socioeconomic changes, etc.
  • Describe landscapes and express their impressions of them.
  • Express the lack of knowledge about something with certain characteristics and deny or confirm its existence.
  • Request, evaluate and pass judgment about an event, and justify this.
  • Give examples.
  • Refer to implied topics in a conversation.
  • Digress in a conversation and change the topic.
  • Talk about trips.
  • Comment on news.
  • Express doubt and reservations with regard to the opinion of another person.
  • Clarify the meaning or the intent of the words of another person.

Course B2.4

DELE preparation Altea; Students will learn to:

  • Express conditions and formulate untrue hypotheses about the past and present.
  • Express sorrow about something.
  • Qualify and correct previously given information or messages and refer to them.
  • Communicate in a formal manner: make reservations, thank someone for services and say goodbye in a formal manner, in both oral and written form.
  • Protest, make demands or complain about something: repeat a complaint, justify it, etc.
  • Talk about culinary experiences and tastes: describe dishes in detail, request information about unknown dishes, etc.
  • Talk about food: define the characteristics and ingredients of a particular food item, its therapeutic properties, its uses, etc.
  • Talk about recipes: give instructions and advice, organize actions in terms of time, etc.
  • Form groups: define their characteristics, interests and topics of discussion, talk about prohibitions, requirements and conditions, etc.
  • Make proposals and suggestions.
  • Express conditions with a greater or lesser degree of probability and obstacles to something happening.
  • Talk about games: describe the goal and the functions of the players, explain the instructions, etc.
  • Express conditions, obligations and prohibitions.

 

C1

Spanish Diploma Level C1 (Effective Operational Proficiency)
DELE preparation Altea; Certifies sufficient linguistic competence to understand a wide variety of lengthy, and somewhat demanding texts, as well as to grasp implicit meaning in the same; to express themselves fluently and spontaneously without apparent effort to find the right words; to be able to use the language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes; and finally, to be able to produce clear, well-structured and detailed texts about topics of some complexity, correctly using mechanisms of organization, articulation and cohesion in the text.

The DELE C1 guarantees that the progress of the student in the language has been a success, and certifies more than an advanced level of Spanish.

This diploma certifies sufficient linguistic competence to:

  1. Understand a wide variety of long, quite demanding texts, as well as recognise implicit meanings in them.
  2. Express themselves fluently and spontaneously, without any obvious effort to find the right words.
  3. Use the language flexibly and effectively for social, academic, and professional purposes.
  4. And be able to produce clear, well-structured, detailed texts on topics having a certain level of complexity, with correct use of mechanisms for organising and articulating a cohesive text.

The DELE C1 examination consists of four tests, classified in two groups (Group 1: Test 1 and test 3. Group: 2: Test 2 and test 4):

  • Test 1: Reading comprehension and use of language (90 minutes).
  • Test 2: Listening comprehension and use of language (50 minutes).
  • Test 3: Integrated skills. Listening comprehension and written expression and interaction (80 minutes).
  • Test 4: Integrated skills. Reading comprehension and oral expression and interaction (20 minutes) (and 20 minutes for preparation).

The maximum possible score on the examination is 100 points.

C2

Spanish Diploma Level C2 (Mastery) 
DELE preparation Altea; Certifies sufficient linguistic competence to communicate effectively in any situation, proving ability to spontaneously adapt to any context, with a high degree of precision. The language users show subtle control of nuances which allow for fluent and natural expression in all interactions.

In November 2011, the Level-C2 DELE examination (DELE C2) changed its format to comply with the Common European Framework of Reference.

DELE C2 is the highest and most advanced of the six learning levels established in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It certifies the level of Mastery.

The DELE C2 certifies sufficient linguistic competence to perfectly handle any kind of situation, proving a spontaneous capacity of adaptation to any context, with a great deal of semantic and grammatical precision. The language users express themselves fluently, with a high degree of specialization and complexity.

The DELE C2 examination consists of three tests:

  • Test 1: Use of language, reading and listening comprehension (105 minutes).
  • Test 2: Integrated skills: Listening and reading comprehension, and written expression and interaction (150 minutes).
  • Test 3: Integrated skills: Reading comprehension and oral expression and interaction (20 minutes) (and 30 minutes for preparation).

A “passing” grade is required for each of the tests that a candidate sits during the same examination session.

The maximum possible score on the examination is 100 points.

A minimum score of 20 is necessary for each of the three tests. The final grade is either PASS or FAIL.
